Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted May 15, 200816 yr Hey. What are the known Problems with converting from IPB (lastest) to VB (latest)? I just want to know if it will cause any problems. One issue i know heard that the passwords dont work anymore and you have to reset them for every single member? Is that true?
May 15, 200816 yr This depends. There may be conflicting between the fact that in IPB members have two usernames. However, even if you do have to reset the password, you can simply use a global email to send each member the password reset password, so you dont actually need to reset them yourself.
May 16, 200816 yr Resetting passwords is a big issue and most of the people might not even know how to do it... so we lose members and traffic Is there something that can covert the username passwords aswell?
May 16, 200816 yr Like I said, a global email prior to converging telling them that they may have to reset their password, and then after converging, sending out another email linking them to the reset password field with instructions on how to reset their password, and telling them that if they are unable to reset their password just to contact you will work just fine. The only members you will loose are noobs.
May 16, 200816 yr Or you can email conversions@invisionpower.com and ask them if the passwords will be lost ..(Thats what I would do before anything IMO)
May 16, 200816 yr Are you converting FROM IPB TO vB or FROM vB TO IPB If its the first I don't know if you're looking on the right forum for support, you should probably ask vB.
May 16, 200816 yr He can still post here. Vbulletin does not know IPB as well as IPB does, so she should get input from both vbulletin and IPB
May 16, 200816 yr I am askin it over at both the forums The VB staff told me that IPB2 passes are encrypted so thats why EVERY member in the forum need to reset their pass Is there anything IPB can do to make those passwords convert to VB? I am looking forward to ya'll replies.
May 16, 200816 yr Hello, You should submit a ticket to our support department or try asking on the other company's forums.
