THL Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Alright there... Just after a few helpful tips, I've got a dedicated server on which I host my forum the setup is AMD X2 Dual Core 5000MHz, with 4GB DDR Ram running with WHM/Cpanel.. Whats the best way to speed and opimise the sysytem for my IPB board which has 7500 members and around 200 guest. 250 members online at peak times...Also 370876 posts, and a couple of mods... How would I go about this, and what sort of server load is good for what I'm running.... Thanks

The best thing I've found for optomising my server is tuning-primer found herehttp://day32.com/MySQL/ In fact thats what I'm gonna do now.
bfarber Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I use this guide a lot for MySQLhttp://www.databasejournal.com/features/my...cle.php/3367871 Keep in mind it's 4 years old, but the info is still relevant. And keep in mind it's only meant to get you started. ;) For search, with 386,000 posts you may want to install Sphinx and install the modification for it here. Other than that it sounds like you're doing good right now.
