Problems with PM block list

Some of our members report that they have entries in their block list which they are absolutely sure are not entered by them.
Are there any known problems with the block list function?

Some more info: All which have reported this problem have a common denominator, they have had previous PM contact with those on their block list.

Thanks, we have followed all upgrades from 2.0 to current. So there is a chance that it occurred in the 2.2.0 upgrade.
The users discovered the problem after a discussion about the blacklist function, initially they didn't know about that function at all..

Probably very few use it so I think the best solution will be to clear this field for all members directly in the DB.
But I cant find it, anyone who knows where the blocklists are stored?
