I know this may start a too much ajax war, but if the Fast Reply was to post the reply using ajax would be be easier to back page out instead of the 2 clicks. What do you guys think?

I agree. More AJAX = Better.
vBulletin also use AJAX in fast reply.

not saying more ajax is better.. just in this situation
