Future Suggestion: Auto detect time

Featured Replies

I think this would be great if the forum itself can autodetect it or when your setting the time you can click a link to auto detect it

That would actually be neat.

Ummm, not sure I understand the point/problem/issue!

If you are talking about NTP (Network Time Protocol) then most Operating Systems use this in one form or another anyway - even MS Windows.

Also, which 'time' do you want your forum to autodetect - GMT, EST, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Los Angeles... and you can set the time zone anyway in your CP - the rest is up to the clock on the server!

No but for example smf has something where you can auto detect it

I think shadow82x is trying to suggest a feature that will automatically detect the users time zone from the computer clock thus correcting itself to the appropiate time of the user.

Yes thats what I mean kind of..

I agree, this would be great. :) Maybe it could even auto-detect your time zone without you clicking a button. It's just automatically set when you're at the registration page. However, I'm not sure if users would consider this a privacy issue.

I'm just saying there should be an option in the control panel

Any feedback from staffs?
