JeremyStCyr Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I have a idea for IPB next version its called a installer detector.why? alot of times i help with installing mods. i notice alot of peeps forget to remove installers. which could be unsafe.i think next version of IPB should have something that will scan for Installer still on your server.
Strange_Will Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 hmm, I think the anti-virus built in stuff would detect installers as dangerous software...Or maybe you don't deserve to be a webmaster at that point. ;)
shakur1 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 installer lock that locks the installer after install.
ellawella Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 How could you possibly go about writing code that would detect an installer???
JeremyStCyr Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Hmmz. a keyword in a installer maybe it can detect?like detect any file that says install or maybe anything that everyone uses to install mods with.
bfarber Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 IPB detects if it's own installer is still present. There's no way we're manually going to try to detect if a modification's installer is still present. IPB does not support modifications (directly).
Mark Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Maybe you should:Have the sense to delete the installer yourself-or-Ask the mod writer to make the installer delete itself
