Change "New Messages" to "Unread Messages"

I know there have been people here that have claimed there was a bug with the "New Messages" thing... And I had some people today do the same thing on my site...

"New Messages" means that you have received new messages, and then once you go to the PM center it reverts to "0" because you know about them.... They are not new anymore, whether you read them or not.

This can confuse people at times... So what I would suggest doing is changing "New" to "Unread" and instead of setting it to "0" when you view the PM listing index, subtract from the number when you actually view the contents of the PM. That way it's a little more functional, and this is how most people perceive "New Messages" to be in the first place.

I like this idea, there have been times when members of my forum, have missed some PM's because the don't realize that 0 new messages does not mean they don't have PM's still unread.

I also like this idea use HTML Logic to only show the undread PMs if there is one. this will make more space in the member bar for the my albums by blog and I am sure there will be a My Files for the download system soon

I don't understand why Matt made the PM system like this. Which other board or email does it this way? It's so illogical, many members have missed PMs including myself.

The PM System definitely needs a complete overhaul in 3.0. Also, I believe this is a good suggestion that Luke has made, and I agree that it needs to change to "Unread Messages."

The problem is is when you access the 'New Messages' page, it resets to zero, even though 4 new pm's exist. It doesn't count unread pm's, but rather the numer since you last looked at the page. You don't even have to read one (or maybe one) for it to reset, just view the page.
