Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Management Matt Posted Friday at 09:32 AM Management Posted Friday at 09:32 AM Beta 10 is finally here Yes, we battled bravely through snow, ice, mince pies, festive men in red suits, New Year celebrations and a last minute issue with our build system yesterday to bring you Beta 10. All the fixes are in the release notes as usual. We do not expect many betas until the final release now. The feature set is locked, so we'll just be triaging bug reports a bit more to essential things. I'll aim to run through the bug tracker to close out fixed bugs. Let me know how you get on. 2TonWaffle Posted Friday at 03:57 PM Posted Friday at 03:57 PM Easy upgrade without any issues. Nice to see that we're getting into the home stretch.
Joey_M Posted Friday at 05:19 PM Posted Friday at 05:19 PM Upgrading from v4.19 to v5's beta 9.1 was very easy. Despite encountering a few complications and errors in my dev site, the process of upgrading to beta 10 through the ACP was remarkably straightforward. (Issues concerning version 5 and theme-related elements).
Gary Posted Friday at 10:01 PM Posted Friday at 10:01 PM Me jumping out of the upgrade process… Process was flawless as per usual. 🥳 Mick23, Jim M, Darek_Hugo and 1 other 4

Gary Posted yesterday at 12:23 AM Posted yesterday at 12:23 AM (edited) Hi @Joey_M, I'm just grabbing some snippets from way back when I installed version 5 for the first time, bearing in mind that it was a fresh install and not an upgrade from a previous release. It may not work for your issue, but it's worth a shot nevertheless. I would suggest the following if you are upgrading from version 4.19 to version 5: Delete the file named 'Promoted.php' in your uploaded files (I did it via cPanel and it was located in applications/core/extensions/core/FrontNavigation/Promoted.php). Delete the 'Promote' item in the core_menu database (I did it via phpMyAdmin) and clear your cache in your AdminCP. My community worked after these steps. Read through the topic I have linked to though as there have been others experiencing the same issues but soon after managed to resolve the error/s. Edited yesterday at 12:26 AM by Gary Joey_M 1
Joey_M Posted yesterday at 12:31 AM Posted yesterday at 12:31 AM Thanks, @Gary. I'm encountering "ALTER TABLE `core_reputation_index` ENGINE=InnoDB, ADD KEY `item_lookup` (`rep_class`,`item_id`,`reaction`);" I have followed the steps you provided by deleting the promoted.php file and dropping the 'promote'.
Dean_ Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Successfully upgraded a site that is over 20 years old, starting from 'v2.1.5' back in the day, we've upgraded to each version throughout the years. Only one issue I've come across, not sure if it is a bug. But, the sidebar widgets had different titles to what was actually meant to be. And, they were all the same, showing a topics widget. I had to go into each one, press edit and then save which updated the widget (if that makes sense). Oh, and I had 3 instances of 'recently visited' showing on the forum index.
