Verto Posted Monday at 05:05 PM Posted Monday at 05:05 PM (edited) Hi. I need to change the server and domain name of an installation, belonging to a project I was working on. A new partner has joined the project and I need to make some changes with respect to the original project. I would have no problem changing the server, but I have never changed the domain name of an installation. And I don't know very well what I would have to adapt, besides changing the new domain in the configuration file. I understand that I should also change it in the database backup, but I don't know what other things I would need to adapt, so that the installation would run under the new domain. If you can help me, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you and best regards. Happy Holidays. Edited Monday at 05:05 PM by Verto
Miss_B Posted Monday at 05:19 PM Posted Monday at 05:19 PM I think that first of all you should changeย the URL for your license so it matches the new domain. You can do that from your Client Centre. This link should help with that: And for the rest it's your basical server move. Make sure that the new domain is entered correctly at theย the conf_global.php file along with the database details of the new server.ย Then you might have to clear your system cache at the support area of your Admin Panel.ย That will ensure that all the js and all the cached data is properly updated to reflect the new domain. Verto Posted Monday at 05:36 PM Author Posted Monday at 05:36 PM (edited) Thank you for your help. The database will have the old domain registered so, I guess the database records will need to be changed as well. That is my doubt ๐ Edited Monday at 05:37 PM by Verto

By database records, do you mean the database as a whole, or the pages database? If the former, I think the extra thing that might need changing is the path to the uploads folder as well. But if that won't be changed automatically, it can be done easily with writting a small php script or running a sql query. If the later and you are worried about links pointing to the old domain, they can be changed with a search replace script or sql query.ย Verto 1

Should you run into issues or have any additional questions you can update your topic here again. Good luck with the new domain and server move. Verto 1
