Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Como Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Hi, Is there a way I can force changes to CSS on members? I am aware that changing the location of the CSS file will generally achieve this, but I presume this is not a practical option with Cloud. Many of our members will struggle clearing their cache. Would creating an additional CSS file with new CSS achieve this? (I could then remove it sometime down the line.) Does anyone have any idea of how long CSS is cached on android another OSs/browsers?
Marc Posted October 8 Posted October 8 This should update right away, apart from for guests, which would be subject to server caching on cloud.
Como Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 (edited) Hmm. It doesn't. I just went around in circles with a team member over a bug which I had already resolved. I then accessed the site using my phone - I experienced the same problem with days out of date CSS. PS. This CSS only applies when logged in. Edited October 8 by Como
Solution Marc Posted October 8 Solution Posted October 8 That can only really be browser cache unfortunately. The CSS itself changes (the file itself has v=123123 at the end, which changes when you change the CSS)
Como Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 Just now, Marc said: the file itself has v=123123 at the end, which changes when you change the CSS I did now know that - thank you for the explanation. It should indeed be downloaded and replace the old version. I'll look into it further. Thanks, @Marc.
