PTiCA1 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hello, I run a forum in which the same subcategory names are repeated and only the main section name changes. Therefore, I would like to be able to set the URL with the entire structure. For example, address: https://forum.skodahome.cz/forum/27-podvozek/ And address: https://forum.skodahome.cz/forum/305-podvozek/ Or address: https://forum.skodahome.cz/forum/91-podvozek/ etc... It is then difficult for search engines to determine the exact url where to send the user because it does not know to which car model the query belongs. I would like a url like this: https://forum.skodahome.cz/skoda-octavia/podvozek/ https://forum.skodahome.cz/skoda-superb/podvozek/ https://forum.skodahome.cz/skoda-yeti/podvozek/ etc. Or is it possible to set the url like this already? Thanks for the reply.
Eleeist Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I believe it could be achieved with custom friendly URLs: System->Settings->Advanced Configuration->Friendly URLs

Such changes require custom modding. I might be interested in doing something like this so anyone interested PM me please.

Search engines look for the Title and Description first, not URL. There are meta tags that are important. As for now all your categories have the same title and no description. You have to go to System -> Site Promotion -> Search Engine Optimization and then provide for each URL the title and description that includes the car model. Example: I would not mess with URL structure. The URL is almost unimportant if your page title and description are set properly. 😉 Tip: if you use the category description field in forum, it will be automatically mapped into a meta description tag. That’s what bread crumbs are for and why they’re so important 🙂 https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/breadcrumb Marc, Mike G., Sonya* and 2 others 4 1
PTiCA1 Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 Thanks for all the help, but none of it solves my problem. I would have to have meta tags created for each topic and that is not possible in the mail of contributions we have. For example, this link from the visitor's search engine leads blindly to a category that he may not have searched for. 1.5TSi engines are in the last five models of the Škoda car company, and in each model they solve, for example, consumption. If I could see the model I'm looking for in the URL address, I would certainly welcome this option. I will at least start with editing the META tags SeNioR- 1

Believe there is confusion. This already exists in the software. We provide the BreadcrumbList metadata where applicable. This is done on topics, forums, etc... PTiCA1 1
