Cannot upload/attach image files to posts

Hello community

we have an issue that started happening ~12 hours ago; we cannot upload/attach images to posts anymore (other files, e.g. PDF seem to work fine).

The error shown to the user is this:
Sorry, an unknown server error occurred when uploading this file. (Error code: no decode delegate for this image format `JPEG' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/741)

(same error for PNG with the image format word changed)

Looking at the forum's logs, I can see the following errors:

This would be a hosting issue. Please contact your hosting provider or server administrator for assistance on installing the missing delegate.

Thank you Jim, I suspected the same after some research and I am already working with the hosting provider.

I appreciate your quick reply and guidance.
