chrissc85
After having been away for a while, I just renewed my license and have been attempting to upgrade my forum from 4.3 to 4.7. I was notified that I would need to update my PHP to 8.0 or higher in order to complete the upgrade, which I did. However, now when I try to access the forum, I get an HTTP 500 Error. As soon as I switch back to PHP Version 7.3, I'm able to access the forum again, but of course, nothing works because the version is so outdated. I've tried a few suggestions from other threads, including running the ips4.php check, which says I should be good. I've also tried using constants.php to access Recovery Mode, but I still get the 500 error when I try to use it with PHP Version 8.0 or 8.1 (however, I did run it with 7.3 and it was able to set the theme to default). Are there any other suggestions I could try to get this working? I'm a bit out of practice on website/forum maintenance and would appreciate any help! Solution Marc Posted November 18, 2022 Solution Share Posted November 18, 2022 You are stuck between a versino which cant use PHP 8 and one that requires it, which is what is causing your issue. You will need to manually upgrade. So upload a fresh set of files from your client area, ensure you are running PHP 8, then run the upgrade from /admin/upgrade
