Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
tlw1999 Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I received several email error message about someone trying to access the sidebar. Then my site started to go really slow and eventually nobody could access it. I had to reboot, during which the posts table became corrupted and I needed to repair it to get the site working again. No sooner was it up and running but it slowed right down again and eventually stopped, and when I checked my emails lo and behold there was another error message about a guest trying to access the sidebar. The ip address resolved to somewhere in the Netherlands. Whatever they have done is causing mysql to work overtime and its clogging the system up and making the site unusable. What can do about this? I saw there was another thread where others have had the same error message but it did not take their site down as it has done mine.
Marc Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 They are essentially trying to ddos your server by the look of it by hitting the site over and over (as they could with any other page). You would contact your hosting company and have them block the IPs in question tlw1999 1
