Is Login/Registration Linkable to Custom Apps?

I want to hire someone to make a custom app for my website, but before I do that, I'm just wondering if we are able to have a c++ application handle login and registrations on app. So it would also create a profile on site if they registered through the app. Or i could haave register link to the register page in a browser but would login still be do able ? Im on community in the cloud but I do realize I may have to host myself to have full control.

If you have someone who is developing for you, then they could develop SSO for this purpose. There are developer guides in which you can find here

However, if the software you are having created is created to use OAuth2, you can simply add this as a login handler on your site
