Are Personal Messenger search results still limited in time?

The search results in the personal messenger still seem to be limited in scope, either by time or maybe the number of results.  I'm running 4.4.x at the moment, and looking to update soon to 4.5.  Has this been addressed in 4.5?  I could have sworn this was addressed in an earlier release, but apparently not?  And if this limitation is still in place, what's the easiest way for me to allow for more search results?  This is really hindering my ability to find relevant content in older messages (my forum has been online since about 2001!)

In 4.4.9   I don't see that line in that specific file as discussed earlier before:

In 4.5.3 cannot find it either.
