Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
ItsJustMe Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Hi everyone, One of my forums doesn't get a lot of activity consistently, so I'm getting a message that I need to set up a cron job for tasks. The dire warnings of what will happen if I don't do this correctly has me spooked. Please tell me if this is what I need to do: Go to Cron jobs in cPanel. Click on Common Settings , then Once per minute. Paste in the code exactly as it's given to me by my IPS software. Click add Cron job. Then go to Advanced Configuration in my ACP and change task setting to Use Cron job. Is that right? Am I missing anything? Thank you in advance for your help.

Dean_ Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 That's correct, and I follow what the software told me to do. I never got told to CHMOD anything, if there is anything wrong you'll be told. It may take a while for the system to catch up if there are any outstanding background tasks. I would recommend to run them manually to get them completed. ItsJustMe 1
ItsJustMe Posted May 19, 2020 Author Posted May 19, 2020 Just a note to say it worked great. The software said that I needed change permissions. I set them to 744 instead of 777 and the permissions message went away, so I think everything is fine.
