Customize latest topics based on interest

Is there any way we can allow our users to customize the latest topic page (/latest) or homepage feed of latest topics from the forums they like?

As we have tons of activities and some user started complaining that there thread get buried in few hours. Hope there is a way to sort out how Quora and Medium does, ask minimum 6 interest and then all the feed will show topics related to your interest only.
