Table 'ibf_core_search_index' autoclean

Can I set up a periodic automatic cleaning of the table "ibf_core_search_index"? It swells up very quickly.
Or should I do it myself via CRON?

No, as that will wipe out your search results until the index is manually rebuilt. Instead, if you'd like to limit the size, then you can limit how far back results can go via your Admin CP > System > Search > Time Cutoff
