Mailgun as SMTP server - "CONNECTION REFUSED" everytime

Hello,

II'm trying to use mailgun's smtp server instead of phpmail function of the board, but I get the "connection refused" error everytime.

The problem is that I'm using the right credentials (email, user, password and port, ) still get the connection refused (I even created everything from scratch, new pass, user, etc.. and still get the error).

Already talked with mailgun support and everything is ok from their end.

My hosting is not blocking any smtp ports either.

What else could I be doing wrong ?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It has to be either your host, or Mailgun, if you're getting connection refused. Or the provider requires a secure connection and you don't have the details specified correctly (e.g. choosing TLS or SSL and specifying the correct port).
