Rebuilding content and rebuilding search index

We have upgraded large board a week ago. We have a lot of rebuilding content tasks running and we estimate they will run for some weeks. We have nothing in the search so far (Elastic), activity streams are empty. Can we start rebuilding search index along with rebuilding content? Did somebody try to do it?

Yes, you can rebuild search alongside rebuilding content, but rebuilding search should happen after the content is rebuilt (or the wrong content will be stored in the search index).
