Excluding image attachment from post

I only want to embed 4 images in a post, but I want to attache about 10.  I've only manually included 4 images directly in the post, but everytime I save, all of the other attachments are embedded at the bottom of the content.

Is there a way to change that behaviour, so they only appear as thumbnails/attachments?

You can embed them all in the post and then double-click on the ones you want to appear smaller to change their size.
