Increased database traffic on 4.3?

I recently updated to 4.3.x and I noticed that my database traffic seems to have doubled:

The yellow one is the important one here. This is just measuring traffic between my MySQL server and my web server.

If anything, with the addition of elasticsearch, I would have thought database traffic would have gone down. Is there some structural change that caused this? It's not necessarily bad, but it is a pretty significant increase and I would like to have an idea of the culprit.

Are any background tasks (such as rebuilding the search index) running? You can confirm from your AdminCP dashboard.

After some more looking into it I think my site was just being sieged by googlebots and bingbots on a re-indexing rampage. It seems to have gone back to more or less normal now.
