Friendly URL not friendly

I am having a problem figuring out the friendly URL system. 

I was blogs to be columns in the url. If I change "blogs/create" to "columns/create" the urls change to "/blog/columns/create". It appears to be adding on to the url instead of changing the url. 

What am I doing wrong?

It is like that since IPS 4.0.0 and it won’t change before IPS 5, I’m afraid.
