Where do featured topics appear?

I'm obviously getting older. Are featured topics only for use in widgets which are set to filter by featured topics? Or should they appear at the top of the main forum app index or elsewhere?

I'm trying to highlight an important topic at the top of the board index, perhaps it's only possible with an announcement linking to it.

I can set a Recommended Post and it appears okay at the very top of a topic, but there is no sign of it being highlighted elsewhere such as the main forum index. I can't see where I can mark a recommended topic either, only a post.

As far as I know yes, only for the widget.

Adding a widget with featured topics to the board index doesn't do what you need? You could also filter by forum and/or author to narrow it down even more.
