Gallery Feature in 4.2 doesn't seem to work

I have been hoping for the last two years to get the Random selector back into the gallery blocks.  In 4.2 it is there, it selects a random set of images the first time, but when I refresh the page or reload the browser in Chrome it is always those very same 5 images.

 

Does anyone have this working to actually display RANDOM images from various gallery albums upon a refresh?

Blocks/Widgets are cached, so they'll only update periodically (default is every 300 seconds).
