SJ77 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I have limited disk space on my server and would like to host files on a CDN. Either my own NAS or Amazon or whatever. How can I run IPS from my server and host all the attachments/uploads from CDN? Thank you
Rhett Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 A CDN is not for moving storage to another provider, in this case you would select the option of either FTP or AWS S3 for your storage options. The S3 is the most common and would work fine for this use, as it moves all items you select to use AWS S3 bucket for your storage and does not store them locally. A CDN is a content delivery network, in which it syncs to your local files to many servers around the world, to better cache and distribute your files for you. Moving storage to an offsite only solution is done with FTP or AWS S3. You can see our guides section on setting this up as well
SJ77 Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Thank you! @Rhett I have a qnap NAS ; is there an ftp tutorial as well?
Rhett Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 A NAS isn't going to work most likely, not unless it has a public path and is available directly, or if this is available on your server internally you could symlink that /uploads folder to the NAS as long as it's on a high speed connection to your main server.

Okay, I have my attachments moving to Amazon S3. It says a move is currently in progress. Once I have the files on the Amazon S3. Is it possible to move them back? How do I make a personal back up of files on Amazon S3?
Rhett Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 You can copy/download them from the S3 to back them up if needed, on moving them back, you can, if you do, you need to ensure they are finished moving to the S3 first.

I noticed they are duplicating instead of moving. Once a folder is on S3 shouldn't it no longer be on my web server wasting space? Just now, superj707 said: this is pretty great. I see a second task setup in queue to delete after everything is moved.
