Archive System Yes or No

My forum is over 10 year old with in excess of 3.5 million posts, would people recommend the archive system or not. I have been using it but it becomes a nightmare when you want to change forums, or move posts..a real pain...but is the performance from having separate tables worth it?

Honestly , no. Topics/posts archived do not appear in the search results , so ... it's like you never had that content.

Hmm at the minute thats not an issue as I use Google CSE with my IPB 3 board.. Its the major hassle of moving or deleting topics thats a right pain in the butt when set to archive, I just thought I'd ask in case anyone has some outstanding reason to use it still due to the size of my board or not..
