.Ian Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Not sure why all the forms all default to the USA with no way to change the default. Please can we have the option to select another country / not have Alabama appear when the country is changed.
opentype Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Which forms exactly? I always see my own (i.e. the user’s) country suggested, may it be in the Calendar, Pages or wherever.
.Ian Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Calendar & store for example I have language set to UK. Not aware of any other setting.
sobrenome Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 It shows the default country based on the user's cpu language.
BN_IT_Support Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I always get USA as well. A default setting would be good.
opentype Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 What does it say for “user language” here for you guys from the UK? http://mybrowserinfo.com/detail.asp EN_GB? EN_US?
BN_IT_Support Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I get en-gb correctly but even if I put a UK postcode into calendar I'm usually offered a result in the US. The default country is always US.
opentype Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Okay. This might be something for the bug tracker or a support ticket then. If it maps DE_DE correctly to Germany, it shouldn’t map EN_GB to USA.

As i tried it's not possible to insert a german address by this way because the house number and the street are the other way around. Looks pretty silly in Germany. Frankfurter Str. 218 will shown as 218 Frankfurter Str.

For me, in Firefox and Chrome, it's en-gb, which correctly autocompletes the country to United Kingdom. Looking at the code, it needs to have a - rather than an _ for it to work.
.Ian Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 I opened a bug, but Brandon said that it is set to en_uk but that is wrong, so a bit confused. I see the same issue on other ipb installations so know it is not just mine. My browser is setting my location as en_gb

Good point en-gb Baffled as to why it is not working. Did some more testing. In Chrome it shows me as en-gb and shows United States in the form In Firefox it shows me as en-us and shows United States in the form In IE it shows me as en-gb and shows United Kingdom in the form! In Edge it shows me as en-gb and shows United Kingdom in the form! So no idea why it should work in IE & Edge, but not in Firefox or Chrome. Am on BT so shouldn't be an issue.
BN_IT_Support Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Interesting. My iPhone gives me en-gb but my iMac gives me en-us when both are connected to my same home router. Not sure why this would be?

Maybe en_US is hardcoded or something like that.

Although even if it was it doesn't explain why en-gb should give different results on different browsers.

It's possible that that site was messing with things - it's certainly changing some things. Can you see what the ac cept-langusge is set to according to http://request.urih.com/

Yeah - ips4 uses the first item in the list. You should be able to change the primary language in settings.

Nathan Explosion Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Remove the English US language from Chrome and Firefox - they will be sent in the order in which they appear in the language settings, if more than one exists. Alternatively, you can re-order them (I know Chrome allows that) Just tested Waterfox (Firefox derivative) and you can re-order there too.

Rheddy Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Since the majority of IPS clients speak English, this isn't a surprise. But, I'm sure when you first install IPS that you're given the choice of what language to select for your community. It isn't rocket science. The majority of IPS installs are based in the English language.
