Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
George Maciver Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Hi, I've upgraded from 3 to 4 and I love the new board, but all my old posts have double spaced paragraphs and images appear as thumbnails which download to your computer if you click them. Is there a tool you can run to sort this out? I'd like all the double spaces removed and the images to appear correctly in posts upgraded from 3. All new posts and uploaded images appear correctly.
opentype Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 There are no double spaces. It’s a default setting for the paragraph spacing you can override in your CSS. I’m not sure regarding the images. Can you link to the actual page instead of just showing a screenshot.
George Maciver Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 It's a private forum Ralf, members only. New images appear correctly, but all the old images appear as thumbnails. If you click the thumbnails, they download to your computer rather than display in the forum. If I reupload the images and insert them again, they appear correctly. It's not a deal breaker, but it does make all the old posts made in 3 rather cumbersome. There are no double spaces with new posts done in 4, it's just all the old posts made with 3 that have the extra spacing in 4.
opentype Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 It's a private forum Ralf, members only. Then it’s hard to help. I can’t check the code, I can’t check the settings. It’s all just guesswork. There are no double spaces with new posts done in 4, it's just all the old posts made with 3 that have the extra spacing in 4.I doubt that. I’m pretty sure in the screenshot above there was a line manually(!) added between the paragraphs and now combined with the 4.0 paragraph spacing that creates the large space. If you remove the paragraph spacing, it will look and work like before.
George Maciver Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Oh, actually there is one forum that is open to the public. Here's a post made in 3 that has been upgraded to 4 but it has no images. It would take forever to go through these and fix them all up manually.http://www.skribblerz.com/forums/index.php?/topic/61-light-effects/

If you check the link and scroll down you will find a reply I made which was made in 3 and certainly did not have an extra space between my reply and the link. 4 is putting double spacing into all the old 3 posts.
George Maciver Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 I've moved the original topic into the public forum so now anyone can view it and see what I'm talking about. This isn't an isolated topic, it's all of them from 3 http://www.skribblerz.com/forums/index.php?/topic/149-monarch-of-the-glen/
opentype Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 4 is putting double spacing into all the old 3 posts. It’s one line, which was MANUALLY added and has the 4.0 default paragraph spacing applied around it. Check the code! Check the line I added manually in the browser. Please use the search function (or Google) on this site regarding this issue. I have explained it countless of times and I am tired of repeating it over and over again. It’s just CSS styling. It’s a fact.
George Maciver Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Hello Ralf, I appreciate you must be under a hell of a strain with all the numpties like me who don't know our arse from our elbows when it comes to running boards, and I really appreciate you taking the time to try and help me. I don't know the first thing about CSS. I'm going through all the important older posts and deleting the extra spacing manually. Do you have an idea how I can fix the images other than downloading them and reuploading them again? If you're ever up my way, I'll buy you a beer.
