Changing forum URL

We are going to be changing out forum URL can you tell me how i should be doing this?

I know how to do the licence bit just not the forum side.

​If you are on 4.0.5.1 you can do this by editing URL via conf_global.php 'base_url' =>

Ok.  What about the URL's links in topics will they change or do i do a bd search and replace?
