However now editors cannot post in the blog3. Blog widgets - Recent comments , recent visitors , recent posts of same blog - A blog used to look like a blog of the member....Has the blog feature downgraded ?

You can make any member group or individual member with the right permissions editor/moderator/etc ..3. You can make your widgets the way you like, there are enough block templates for starters .. .

Albums is an example of 1 of the options .. there are 4 different ways to add images in blogs ..2. look into blog permissions & group blog settings & type per blog .. etc ..3. you have all the tools in hand to create it .. .
