Notification Overload

I'm seeing this here too, FWIW.

Recently upgraded my community to IPS4 and my members (and myself) are getting bombarded with emails for every topic which is made and every comment which is posted in every forum (permissions are honored, thank god) without subscribing to forums or topics.

This is happening to a member which has not visited or posted since July 2012 - that's almost 3 years ago, but suddenly he's getting a LOT of notification emails from the site. I don't know why.

This is also happening here on IPS for myself. I log in every day and I have 99+ notifications from topics, bug tracker, etc, things I know I haven't followed. I just assumed this forum was a special case as I used to follow forums back when I was a staff member so I could answer topics, but I know I didn't follow every forum and I know I didn't follow all bug categories (especially now we have a new bug tracker?) but it seems that it isn't an isolated incident with IPS4.

Anyone else seeing this issue and know's what to do?

EDIT: Maybe a bug. You aren't following all those users.

So.. it's a followers thing? Cos the member complaining to me on my site (and other members) aren't following anyone. This is more about my site than here. Here was just a coincidence which doesn't really bother me.
