Trying to get the developer mode to work on my local machine, with no success.  

I just did a fresh install of RC2 and everything is working great.  Downloaded the Dev tools and uploaded everything with exception of the dev folders for specific applications I don't own.

Added the constants.php file with the IN_DEV TRUE line.  When I refresh the page in Chrome all I get is a Web Page Not Available and an Error code: ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

I have a lot of other scripts on my local machine which all work fine.  IPB4 RC2 works great as long as I don't have Dev mode active.

I've even looked at my server logs and don't see anything out of the ordinary.  Are there additional server or php requirements to run in the DEV mode vs. the non-DEV mode?

Any help would be much appreciated.  

Finally figured it out.

Anyone who runs across this:  Enable zlib.output_compression = On in the php.ini
