Correct Hostname to use when making remote connection to MySQL Database

Hi All,

I would like to create a remote connection to the IPS MySQL datasbase that runs my forum. However I have tried using the domain supplied as my adrdess but connection fails.

I have already added my IP in CPanel section for remote MySQL connections and also open the software on my firewall tto allow this as an exception.

Pretty sure its the host name Im getting wrong.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Are both databases on the same server?

Although you said you adjusted the firewall, if they're on different servers, make sure that Port 3306 is open for Outbound TCP on the local server, and for Inbound TCP on the remote server.

The hostname you'd have to get from your respective servers Hosts.
