Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted January 12, 201312 yr While using this community (not mine) I get the following page again and again Additionally the download speed of the community is low. I have looked for new skins yesterday and gave up as the images in IPS Marketplace were loaded very slow. It was just impossible to wait for loading of all screenshots. Is there any issues with the community website?
January 12, 201312 yr Author Nobody else? I have just get another version of the "offline website" Can somebody confirm the issue? I am going to buy some skins and applications today, but I get this page again and again.
January 12, 201312 yr +1 Page is loading forever, cant access Clent Area. Working for me. I did get the page Sonya had yesterday once.
January 12, 201312 yr Can somebody confirm the issue? This problem popping up again and again.New threads about it and the explanation from IPS is: DDoS
January 12, 201312 yr Author PS: Misi, I hade the same issue with quoting today you have in your post. I had assumed that it is related to low speed of the site.
January 12, 201312 yr @Sonya: I wanted to edit my post but now I leave it as it is.Thanks for pointing it out.(I'm scared to quote your post in this post)
January 12, 201312 yr Author oh wait, so IPB uses cloudflare (´・ω・`) Unfortunately :( CloudFlare protects and accelerates any website online. I cannot see this CloudFlare offline page any more... Have seen it about 100 times today and hate it :D
January 12, 201312 yr takes a long time for CF to build the offline page. like 2 weeks. once doen you'll see outdated page with a cf banner.
January 12, 201312 yr No problem here but, it could be related to those idiots that keep ddosing the site.
January 13, 201312 yr Author This is not fun now. I have just purchased a skin and cannot download it due to very slow connection. I am going to purchase some other applications, but if I cannot load them it makes no sense. Dear IPS, please, investigate and configure CloudFare properly. Thank you!
January 14, 201312 yr Author Feedback: looks good for me today. No offline screen and the page speed is normal again.
January 20, 201312 yr Cloudflare is one of my trusted partners, but agree that the migration can be a bit rocky. It is good that IPB is taking steps to embrace the technology, security issues such as this are a reality in the world todya.
January 20, 201312 yr I have been reluctant to use Cloudflare, the same as with Ruby on Rails because too many websites that I visit use either or both and it seems their websites crash on a regular rotating basis. Either these platform are unstable or they are deliberately being targeted.

Either these platform are unstable or they are deliberately being targeted. You do know that Ruby on Rails is nothing like Cloudflare? It's a way of running code written in Ruby as a web application. Twitter is a site that runs on RoR, for instance.
January 20, 201312 yr I don't think Cloudflare is the problem here. The reason that IPS activated Cloudflare in the first place was probably that they were being targeted by DDoS attacks that they could not cope with on their own. So the site would probably be down a lot more without it...
