Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Dreamlander Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 It would be nice also having the possiblity saving on our computer the topic with the posts in pdf format. Right now the only possibility is saving/downloading in html format. Is it possibile having this feature?
Zhana Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Why not use a pdf printer? If invision wants to do this I guess they would have to buy some corporate license. I might be wrong though.
Dreamlander Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 Why not use a pdf printer? If invision wants to do this I guess they would have to buy some corporate license. I might be wrong though. It is a more easy and convenience way for users having a pdf on a click button . Not everyone is familiar with a pdf driver. In life we are tring to simply things and not complicate them ;)
Michael Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I looked into this once for my Tutorials app, it wasn't so easy to find a library for writing to PDF without there being some sort of licensing issues. Doesn't Adobe Acrobat still install a browser addon that will let you save any page as a PDF?
• Jay • Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 It would definitely be worth looking into the licensing issues and possibly even obtaining the necessary license. How many forum software developers are going to go to that trouble to offer the functionality? That would be a selling point for corporate sites. Download an entire thread into a PDF document, then refer to it as needed in a universally accepted format with any necessary images embedded in the document so it's not calling on resources that may give permission errors... sounds ideal for business use.
