Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
bpn Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 After we moved to a dedicated server I started to receive error messages for notification emails sent to permanently failed addresses. Some had subscription on new topics in our most active forum and not been logged in for more than 5 years.... Thousand, maybe millions, of notification emails have been sent out to failed addresses, most probably users that are not longer active. My suggestion is to add an automated procedure which remove all email notification on members that have not been active for a given period of time. Or better, remove all kind of notification as I guess that PM and inline also cause some system load. (maybe added to the Daily Clean Out task)

Anonymous IPB User Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I have been dealing with this same issue for some time now, and I agree, it would be a great addition.
Ozpicious Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 lol did wonder where the thousand odd emails a day were coming, figured it was inactive accounts
