Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
dogpatch Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 i highly recomend that you change the '______ has started a personal conversation with you' message to better reflect exactly whats going on. Its kind of lame to get a message about getting a message. If somebody adds me as a friend, dont tell me about it with a message, tell me about it with a notification that says "_____ as added you as a friend" dont send me a message teling me that, thats dumb. The same goes for everything else, it always just says youve got a personal converation with somebody and its always just that somebody has written on my profile or added me as a firned, those arent "personal conversations" those are notification of events.

dogpatch Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 i dont think you understand what im saying. no mater how you set those settings it still always says 'youve got a new personal conversation' and then a message saying whats happened. so even if its a status update it says its a new personal conversation. if its a profile comment, it says ive got a new personal conversation, then it tells me whats happened.
Mark Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 If you set the preference to "inline notification" rather than "personal conversation", it should just show the notification content and not send you a pm.
bfarber Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Yes, you are most likely currently configured to get a PM notification when someone adds you as a friend. Thus, you get a PM explaining what happened, but then get an inline notification telling you about the PM. Just change the friend options to send you an inline notification instead.
