Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Elbmek Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 After I had the upgrade to 3.1.3 installed I found that I could not log in, it kept reverting to log in screen, by accident I realised that I was actually logged in all the time!! I clicked on a section and it opened fine but as soon as I had left the forum, it all began over again. After a nights sleep and deep thought I found the following solution to a problem which only seemed to affect my staff and myself. All 'ordinary members' could follow on after the upgrade as if nothing had happened. 1. Delete all references to your forum from the desktop and remove all references in your favs/bookmarks in you browser. 2. Open browser and type in forum address in the address bar 3. Log in as normal, and you will find it works fine. Staying on this page, bookmark or add to favourites then cut and paste or 'send to: desktop (create shortcut)' and then close browser down completely. 4. Click on link on desktop and it works fine!! Immense sigh of relief! Running IPBoard on a pc of Win 7. I do not know if that is relevant at this time. But only staff members supermod or above had this problem.
AngelFire Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 i have not done my upgrade yet, but there is issues with custom skins, and there is a fix on the news post :)
Elbmek Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Mine was not a skin issue. The log in, when used, allowed the log in no problem, but then reverted to the log in screen, whilst in the top right, the user was logged in!! And every time the user left the forum, it all had to be done again when next in. Following my instructions above, I am now logged in properly and the correct page opens on clicking the icon on the desktop. It only affected staff, not members.
NenaDice Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I can't reproduce this on my test forum. But can you redownload the 3.1.3 package and redo the upgrade once again? Or start a ticket in your clien''s area so one of the Ipb staff can investigate this further?
Elbmek Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Already done. We had quite a 'chat' last night until 0230 this morning. The IPTech did my upgrade for me at 0030 approx. They could not reproduce it either. But from what I can make out you must be admin or super mod at least and these were the only people affected by the upgrade. The members all had no problems. I sent in my solution on the ticket but no reply as yet, presume they are all still sleeping under the table where they fell!!!!
Elbmek Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Been running on new forum now for a couple of days, and wish to thnk Jason & Colin etc for their patience and help in solving my own particular log in problem. I did actually solve it myself as stated above but their help was supreme. The support in this board is 1000% better than any previous I have experienced and for that I am extremely grateful. not one of my members was affected but only 'staff'.
NenaDice Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Glad to hear that you got the issue solved :)
