Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
IAmChris Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 It would be great if there was an option to strip the whitespace in the HTML output. It would further help to optimise load times. What do you think?
Olivier Turbis Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 There was a tool for that back in the 2.3 days, not sure if it's still an IP.Board feature though.
IAmChris Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 It would be nice since it seems a waste not to do it since so many other aspects of IPB are optimised.
bfarber Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 While it may sound nice on the surface, it's useless if you're already using Gzip (which is much more efficient at this sort of thing anyways). Gzip transparently strips whitespace while compressing the page, however the final result once gunzipped retains the whitespace for easier source code viewing. win-win
IAmChris Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. :)
