There should be a mood system in a future version

I know, it's not something many suggest, but I've seen it used on pretty much half the sites I go to in existance, so it's kind of shocking such a commonly used mod isn't default either here or in vBulletin. Indeed, I'd say far more people use it than statuses (no offence here, but status is something I only ever see on Facebook and the like, not forums), so perhaps in 3.2 or something?

I think he wants it in the core.

Might just be me, but I'd personally prefer something such as this stay as a 3rd party mod. The status is more flexible, you can say what you're doing, what's happening, or your mood, etc.

I don't want to see that in core because it's not a compliment of what a forum is intended to do. The prime motive in forums is facilitating communication. A moods system is more suitable as a 3rd party application.

I doubt that this will be included in the core product, this is the kind of feature that we usually leave to mod developers :)

That's a good point, but what makes status so much more a feature that should be a core feature if few use it? More I'd say would use this, and I'd far more likely trust officially written features than third party modifications.

So you mean that setting a mood isn't a form of communication?

It is but it is not part of a core function of a forum. The facebook POKE button is a form of communication and I think it's a useless feature. Wouldn't want to see that feature in IP.Board's core.
