Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
cheatmaster30 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I know, it's not something many suggest, but I've seen it used on pretty much half the sites I go to in existance, so it's kind of shocking such a commonly used mod isn't default either here or in vBulletin. Indeed, I'd say far more people use it than statuses (no offence here, but status is something I only ever see on Facebook and the like, not forums), so perhaps in 3.2 or something?
Jυra Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (T30) Moods 1.0.1 http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/2931-t30-moods-101/
Mr. Despair Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (T30) Moods 1.0.1 http://community.inv...-t30-moods-101/ I think he wants it in the core. Might just be me, but I'd personally prefer something such as this stay as a 3rd party mod. The status is more flexible, you can say what you're doing, what's happening, or your mood, etc.
ᴡᴅツ Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I don't want to see that in core because it's not a compliment of what a forum is intended to do. The prime motive in forums is facilitating communication. A moods system is more suitable as a 3rd party application.

3DKiwi Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 No vote from me. This is one for a mod developer. 3DKiwi
Josh Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I doubt that this will be included in the core product, this is the kind of feature that we usually leave to mod developers :)
cheatmaster30 Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 That's a good point, but what makes status so much more a feature that should be a core feature if few use it? More I'd say would use this, and I'd far more likely trust officially written features than third party modifications.
bfarber Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I disagree. I think status is a lot more relevant and useful, and generic, than "moods".
ᴡᴅツ Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 So you mean that setting a mood isn't a form of communication? It is but it is not part of a core function of a forum. The facebook POKE button is a form of communication and I think it's a useless feature. Wouldn't want to see that feature in IP.Board's core.
.Ian Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 we used to use it in UBB but it was rarely used in reality. Not exactly top of my list I'm afraid.
