SSH - allow us to use wget

I just learned about this. It is so much faster. It would be awesome to be able to do that.

If security is a concern can you do this?

so is it possible, can staff look into this. It is awesome!

I'm not really sure what your suggestion is for IPB. Or are you asking us to open up wget on our hosting? If you have SSH access, I'm pretty sure you can use wget on our hosting already - however the vast majority of clients don't have SSH access because they have shared hosting accounts.

I guess what I'm saying - what is your suggestion exactly?

While I don't know how to say it. I really don't know much about SSH and I did my first install with Wordpress. I was surprised on how fast I installed it. I didn't need to upload it via FTP which is super slow for me.

I used this command. I think it would be awesome to install IP.Board or upgrade it this way.

I do that all the time for installs. I upload the zip file and then unzip it on the server.

oh I can just upload the zip to my server and do it?


I thought it had something to do with a SVN or something. Hmm I will try that with a test install.

I just unzip the file on the server and then move the files in board/upload to root then delete the zip itself and the board directory.
