Google WebMaster identified keywords

I. I use almost plain vanilla implementation of IPB 3.0.3.
I have more than 125K posts and abut 50% are index by Google.

II. I was checking Google Webmaster and it shows the following TOP 10 keywords of my board.

1. icon <-- Google marked this as very significant.
2. <My Own Board keyword>
3. <My Own Board keyword>
4. <My Own Board keyword>
5. multiquote
6. <My Own Board keyword>
7. joined
8. posts
9. topic
10. new

III. Google picks out 6 "generic" keyword due to the forum as significant for my board.
eg icon,multiquote,joined,post,topic,new

The word Icon was marked as "very Significant". I believe it was due to the "<img alt> tag that IPB generate like in "Reply Icon".

IV. Consider to remove the word "Icon" from the default Alt tag to reduce unnecessary keyword density.
Consider changing multiquote to multi quote which are "more generic" words. Google may then "ignore" it or give it less weight.

Images must contain alt text according to XHTML specs. We can't just remove it. If we change it, Google would simply think of the new keyword as being very important, rather than the existing one.

Changing multiquote to multi quote would probably have the opposite effect to what you are suggesting. The word "quote" is already on the page dozens of times, for instance. Say you have "quote" 10 times and "multiquote" 10 times. Splitting that into "multi quote" would mean you'd now have "multi" 10 times, and "quote" 20 times.

1. Take a look at the Google Webmaster keywords from my site. According to the Google headline:

These are the most common keywords that Google found when crawling your site. These should reflect the subject matter of your site.

Google relies heavily on page rank, but it also consider "keyword density" for the relevance of that page.

2. Looking at the attached Image, Google is saying Icon is the #1 keyword of my board and marks it as VERY Significant.

I have search for the word "Icon" all over my board. Hardly used at all.

3. However Icon is heavily used by IPB in the image tag.
eg <img src="xx.png" alt="Reply Icon">

4. To "help" Google (and indirectly all your customer), IPB may just like to change the image tag to
<img src="xx.png" alt="Reply"> ie drop the "Icon" word in the alt for all your "img tag"

5. For "Multiquote" change it to more "ordinary" words like "Multi Quote". These are more "common" fluff words which Google will thus not put too much weightage on.

6. In the mean time, can someone point me to IPB DB table / PHP File where I can "remove" the word "Icon" myself. Just for my own board.

I would just wrap to code and buttons that don't need to be seen by guest with a condition so they aren't visible unless you're logged in.

i guess google needs some of badlist keywords you can send through, e.g. ignore all keywords in X list. This is a more a problem with google than ipb imo.
