Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted July 4, 200915 yr I have a small request to make for future updates to IPB (hopefully 3.0.1 :P). I would like to see the option to change the default post view threshold for members, as discussed here. The default is "Currently viewing all posts", but I would like to be able to change this to a custom threshold of "Hiding all posts below -3 points" by default (or however many points you choose). This would be a great way for the community to actively moderate topics, by negative voting on unsuitable posts. Once enough negative votes have been made, the post will be hidden. Sort of like "burying" on Digg.
July 6, 200915 yr Sounds like a great idea to me to ecourage positive posting. The only issue I can see is when members don't reward good posts, like in this topic for example. Although you have had 3 replies so far including mine, nobody had given positive rep for your suggestion except for me.

True, but all you have to do is inform your community about the reputation system and let them know how to use it. The more people use it, the more people that will use it (as they see the numbers next to posts going up). It just has to catch on. Regardless, that's more of a problem with the reputation system as a whole than my suggestion in particular. And my post is at 2 points now :P
July 19, 200915 yr Is there any news on this? Are there any mods that allow posts with say -5 rep to be collapsed (just like youtube comments)
