Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
chasz Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 wasnt there supposed to be some metadata addition to the ACP?? anyone know where it is? Or are we supposed to add it manually in the skins?
bfarber Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Are you talking about meta tags? Just view the page source to see them. That's not really something you "see" as a user browsing the page, it's meant for programs that can read the source code.
chasz Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 well i thought you would add an input option in the ACP general settings sections that outputs to the header ! instead of having us manually add it to the skins surely LOL
bfarber Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Um, you don't have to manually add it to your skins. IPB generates this dynamically when viewing topics and forums, based on the topic/post content or forum/description content...
chasz Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 BUT ISNT THE index where google kinda lists your page?
bfarber Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Ideally, I'd hope, Google would index more pages than just your forum index. But, if you are wondering how to add a meta tag to the forum index, this is not done automatically in IPB and would require some sort of skin change, yes.
chasz Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 i am sure u can add a textarea input to the settings in 5 min ;)
