New ACP Search, Question I guess

I find it more of a question before I report it as a bug.

Why is it, if you search for something via the ACP that even if you select a link it still pulls up ALL of the options provided? Just sort of confuses me and makes me have to look twice for something in a list.

Are we supposed to be able to do a full search or is the Quick search the only one available? I would assume you should be able to do a full search to look for something but you can only utilize the quick search.

If I can get some verification on that so I understand further I'd greatly appreciate it.

I would also like to know, as I thought I saw this in pre-preview time, that we were supposed to be able to require the birthday by default onthe registration page, perhaps I was mistaken but I thought it was supposed to become similar to the Custom Profile fields with full control and ability to require it or not, including being able to not enter the year of birth or (for some) require it.

Just curious. I really don't want to have to mod it in again because I need birthdays verified before my members join.

So again correct me if I'm wrong or maybe add some sort of functionality to be able to require it on the registration page, that would be helpful.

Edit: One more thing. A suggestion for the ACP. It would be awesome if you clicked on the IPB Admin banner that it took you to the Dashboard. Just a thought.

It pulls up the group of settings that the particular setting is contained in, with any settings that have the search keyword. So for instance if I search "spam" and click on the first result "Enable questions and answers", it will pull up all settings with the "spam" keyword in that group ("Security and Privacy").

There is only live-search. We saw no true need for a full search routine.

No, I'm afraid you mis-remembered. :P What we changed is that year is no longer required when a member sets their birthday (it always has been up until 3.0). So that a user can still be recognized as it being their birthday, without them revealing their age.

You are the second to suggest that. Maybe Rikki will agree.

With the Hooks system will it be moderately easy to make the Birthday required on the registration form?

I only ask because I need ages before I approve accounts.

And it was good I asked before posting a bug report. ;)

It would be possible, yes. You'd need to hooks to your plugin - one that adds the fields on the registration form, and then an action overloader that will verify (at the beginning of the registration function) that the birthday fields were filled in/valid.
