Merged topics in 3.0

Is there any way to make Merged topics behave the same way as Moved topics? For example, in forum view, show an arrow or something on the newer topic that was merged and when you click on that topic link, it brings you to the merged thread.

Example on Webhostingtalk: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31
(it shows Moved instead of Merged to the left of the topic title)

This way, members will know what happened to their topics. Vb does have this and I thought it would be nice if 3.0 incorporates it if it already haven't. :)
