Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Luke Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I really think the subscription system is very much incomplete. There are so many things that just don't work right. I just got this in my PayPal dispute center:You notified me by email on 4/16/07 that the subscription would expire and "you do not need to do anything". Two days later we were again charged. Twice I've sent emails attempting to resolve this, and your automated system said you'd get back to me within 24 hours, but I've heard NOTHING. I am opening this dispute to get back my five dollars and prevent you from charging me again! How does something like this happen? If the subscriptions are sent to re-occur, can't they cancel the subscription? Wouldn't it NOT automatically expire? My suggestion: Fix it, and many other things. I'm not even sure if what happened is a "bug", thus is why it isn't in the bug tracker.
stobbo Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I agree the subscription system needs a overhaul. It is workable, but it could be better.
Sam A Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 It is workable.I'd even dispute this. Half my members can't resubscribe/automatically renew their subs because of this bug.
Logan Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Agreeing here also, even though it was said IPS plans to remove the subscriptions manager and replace it with a plugin to nexus, sure a plugin for nexus is great. But I still think the subsmanager should be kept, fixed, and reworked. It's a great feature, it just doesn't work the best.
Luke Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 My biggest problem is this: Great, I'm glad it will be removed and replaced with a Nexus plugin. When Nexus is actually avaiable I will get it and use it. But it isn't avaiable, and I'm having to suffer mad fits from subscribers because "A", "B", "C," and "D" isn't working, or "E" should be more like "F". I want something that works good, not something that's jerry rigged to work half way.I can't get rid of it because I depend on it for income to pay for the site, which it barely does anyway, mainly because this doesn't work the way it should. The stuff I can't do with it costs me time and money.
stobbo Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Isn't Nexus going to cost, and be aimed at businesses? I'd hate to have the subscription manager removed, if thats the case.
Luke Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 As I've said before I'd be happy to use Nexus if I could use it now. But right now I'm stuck with something that half way works and I'm getting hell from other people because of it.
