Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
dflorin Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 this seems to happen somehow randomly. the fast replay box is supposed to have some buttons in the upper left corner, i know this because i have seen those buttons yesterday on my test board. after going to rc3 they are no longer there. on this board, i never saw them. i just trie, and tey are not there. with the mouse i can select some empty ... something ... on that corner of the reply box. text with only spaces probably.clicking on those things produces the intended effect of the buttons that were supposed to be there. on the "quick edit" the buttons are visible, on both sides.
.KX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 You most likely forgot to upload something when upgrading to RC3. (Just a guess.)
.KX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Oh, it's occurring here also, sorry I should've read your post properly. I'm not experiencing this error, strange. What browser are you using?
.KX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Well I've never heard of Maxthon and I don't use IE so I can't really help you out.Oh and just to confirm; this does not occur with Firefox 2.0 on Windows.
Michael Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Check out the pinned topics in this forum, this should resolve itself when you do a hard refreah (Ctrl + F5) in your browser.
Michael Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Hmm, odd, do you have a firewall or anything like that? Try clearing your browser cache files too.
dflorin Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 cleaning the cache was the first thing to do. i do not believe the windows firewall would selectively block the buttons in fast reply, but not in quick edit.
.KX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 If you have some kind of ad blocker perhaps that is interfering, it's happened to me before. The ad blocker decided that some of the images on one of my sites were ads and as such - blocked them.
dflorin Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 maxthon has an internal add blocker that i like. but it replaces adds with [blocked add], which is not hte case. ie has no add blocker.
dflorin Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 huh, now those buttons appear in ie. i did not change anything.

Michael Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Have you tried rebooting your computer? Worth a shot. I'm using IE and Fast Reply-ing right now and I see them fine, and I always have.
dflorin Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 rebooted. no more buttons in ie. still no buttons in maxthon.
Michael Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Oh well, there's little else I can suggest. It's not a problem with this board, or this version of the software, or else everyone would have the problem. The issue is something specific to the browser you're using, something about the software on your computer, or something in your local network.
bfarber Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I'm using IE and I see them fine. Been using IE for almost the entire day today to work out various issues (which is a good thing, as I ran into a javascript error in the download manager I had no clue about), etc. Buttons are showing for me right now.
bfarber Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Besides that - look at the source code. They're simple image tags. <td><div class="rte-normal" id="fast-reply_cmd_bold"><img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_images/1/folder_editor_images/rte-bold.png" alt="Bold" title="Bold" /></div></td> <td><div class="rte-normal" id="fast-reply_cmd_italic"><img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_images/1/folder_editor_images/rte-italic.png" alt="Italic" title="Italic" /></div></td> <td><div class="rte-normal" id="fast-reply_cmd_underline"><img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_images/1/folder_editor_images/rte-underlined.png" alt="Underline" title="Underline" /></div></td> <td><div class="rte-normal" id="fast-reply_cmd_createlink"><img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_images/1/folder_editor_images/rte-link-button.png" alt="Insert Link" title="Insert Link" /></div></td> <td><div class="rte-normal" id="fast-reply_cmd_insertimage"><img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_images/1/folder_editor_images/rte-image-button.png" alt="Insert Image" title="Insert Image" /></div></td> <td><div class="rte-normal" id="fast-reply_cmd_emoticon"><img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_images/1/folder_editor_images/rte-emo-button.png" alt="Emoticons" title="Emoticons" /></div></td> </tr><tr>Maybe the firewall installed here is blocking them for you because the request from your pic is coming in so fast, or because images are not caching properly in your browser?

Michael P Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Earlier today I was accessing this site via a really high speed network, and found lots of images failed to load, mainly the icons in the forum view, listing the topics.

You have not installed all the lang files in the 'cache' folder. I reccommend you upload the 'cache' folder again.
dflorin Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 that's ... silly (no offence). how come they do show up in quick edit? i will edit this message and include a screen capture.the same random thing happens with the icon near "export skin set" in acp. in the same page, i have the default skin and 2 test skins. the icon shows up for 2 of them but not for the third. 5 minutes agao, before a refresh, it did not show up for any of them.
